devise+conquer theatre company present
William Shakespeare’s
Romeo & Juliet
Directed by Lianne O’Shea
Following on from last year’s hugely successful production of The Merchant of Venice - 'stimulating and provocative' (Irish Theatre Magazine) - devise+conquer theatre company return this autumn with Shakespeare's classic tale of young lovers and feuding families, Romeo & Juliet.
Confronting head-on the unsentimental robustness of this text you will find yourself in a world of street gangs and riots, back-alley drug deals and burnt-out cars.
This age-old tale fits as easily into the housing estates of West Dublin as it did in Elizabethan London, or Verona - with a moral as resounding today as then - "violent delights have violent ends".
